BANGKA - PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its commitment to promoting social and economic independence in its operational areas through the update of its Community Development and Empowerment Master Plan (RIPPM).

In the drafting process, PT TIMAH involves various stakeholders to ensure that the programs designed are increasingly aligned with community needs and regional development priorities.

This commitment was realized through a multi-stakeholder Focus Group Discussion (FGD) consultation on the RIPPM update, held at the Cassiterite Building, Timah Learning Center, Sungailiat, Bangka Regency, on Monday (May 4, 2026).

The forum was attended by representatives of the Bangka Regency Government, including the Regional Secretary, heads of regional apparatus organizations, sub-district heads, village heads, community organizations, media, academics, and other stakeholders.

Through this forum, PT TIMAH and the Bangka Regency Government discussed the preparation of the RIPPM document, aligning it with regional development plans so that community empowerment programs can be more targeted, measurable, and sustainable.

PT TIMAH's RIPPM covers eight main pillars: education, health, real income or employment, economic independence, socio-culture, environment, community institutions, and infrastructure. In this update, discussions focused on several priority sectors, namely education, increasing real income, strengthening economic independence, socio-culture, environment, and infrastructure.

The Department Head of Corporate Communication of PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk Anggi Budiman Siahaan, stated that updating the RIPPM document is a strategic step carried out periodically by the company with the involvement of stakeholders.

"The preparation of this RIPPM is an important part of ensuring that PT TIMAH's community empowerment programs are aligned with community needs and regional development directions. Through this FGD, we want to ensure that all input from stakeholders becomes the basis for formulating more relevant and impactful programs," he said.

So far, PT TIMAH's Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programs have reached various sub-districts in Bangka Regency, including Sungailiat, Pemali, Merawang, Riau Silip, Belinyu, Mendo Barat, and Bakam. Therefore, this multi-stakeholder forum serves as an important momentum to enrich perspectives in preparing a more adaptive RIPPM that meets community needs.

During the discussion, several strategic issues emerged. In the education sector, participants highlighted the importance of equal access to education for underprivileged children and children with special needs, strengthening the capacity of teachers and parents, and developing community competencies to reduce dependence on the mining sector. In addition, expanding access to higher education for all students, not limited to top-tier classes, was also discussed.

In the economic sector, discussions included the development of MSME centers based on regional potential, digitalization of marketing, strengthening the tourism sector, resolving land issues, technology-based waste management, as well as expanding access to capital and post-harvest training.

Meanwhile, in the environmental sector, key inputs included circular economy-based waste management, revitalization of ex-mining land, and strengthening the Climate Village Program.

In the socio-cultural and infrastructure sectors, discussions focused on strengthening community-based tourism management through tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis). The infrastructure pillar emphasized improving village facilities, lighting, and upgrading school environmental infrastructure to better support educational activities.

The Regional Secretary of Bangka Regency, Thony Marza, considered the forum a positive step in aligning corporate programs with regional development needs.

"Many of PT TIMAH's CSR and PPM programs have already benefited the people of Bangka Regency, ranging from education through scholarships, community economic development, to fostering community organizations. Forums like this are important so that future programs become more focused and integrated into annual planning," said Thony.

Similarly, the Head of Riding Panjang Village, Fajar S, stated that the forum opens broader opportunities for collaboration between village governments and the company in driving community empowerment.

"Through this forum, we gain a more comprehensive understanding of the programs that have been carried out by PT TIMAH. Going forward, we hope to build more concrete collaboration, including encouraging the formation of community groups, women's groups, and youth groups to become more productive," he said.

Support also came from academics. The Vice Director I for Academic Affairs of Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic, Irwan, S.ST., M.Sc., Ph.D., viewed the involvement of higher education institutions in the RIPPM preparation as an important step to ensure that community empowerment programs are based on real needs.

"Through this PPM program, PT TIMAH is expected to better identify community needs more accurately. By involving various parties, including universities, the programs developed will be more relevant and provide long-term benefits," Irwan explained.

The forum will not only be held in Bangka Regency but also in other operational areas of the company.

Through this participatory RIPPM update, PT TIMAH reaffirms its commitment to continuously involving stakeholders in designing sustainable, inclusive, and impactful community empowerment programs that improve the welfare of communities in its operational areas.
