PT TIMAH Strengthens Decarbonization Efforts, Targets Net Zero Emissions by 2060 13 May 2026 SHARE PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk continues to strengthen its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through various strategic initiatives and the implementation of a decarbonization roadmap aimed at achieving net zero emissions by 2060. As part of these efforts, PT TIMAH is carrying out various mitigation actions that significantly contribute to reducing carbon emissions across the company's operational activities. One of PT TIMAH's strategic measures is transitioning from fossil fuel use to lower-emission energy sources. This effort has been implemented through the gradual use of biodiesel, starting from B20 and currently reaching B40, in line with government policies and regulations, to support more environmentally friendly and sustainable company operations. In addition to biofuel utilization, the company has also begun using renewable energy through the installation of solar cells and other alternative energy sources considered capable of supporting sustainable GHG emission reductions. Decarbonization measures have also been implemented at PT Timah Industri through the use of gas fuel and the installation of solar photovoltaic (solar PV) systems in operational areas and reclamation sites. "Decarbonization efforts are an important part of the company's transformation to create greener, more efficient, and more sustainable mining operations," said PT TIMAH (Persero) Tbk Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan. Anggi added that the implementation of low-emission energy, the development of renewable energy, and nature-based solution programs are concrete steps taken by the company to maintain a balance between environmental sustainability and the company's long-term business continuity. In addition, the company is implementing carbon offset programs through tree planting and forest reforestation activities as part of its carbon absorption strategy. These nature-based solutions are expected to strengthen the company's contribution to sustainably reducing carbon emissions. To support these long-term targets, PT TIMAH also continues to conduct research and develop environmentally friendly technologies tailored to the company's operational needs. PT TIMAH regularly monitors air emissions and ambient air quality while optimizing biodiesel energy use and encouraging the transition toward other low-emission energy sources. Within its decarbonization roadmap, the company is also optimizing various opportunities to accelerate the achievement of its GHG emission reduction targets. These include improving energy efficiency to reduce fossil fuel consumption, using environmentally friendly energy in operational activities, and investing in the development of Renewable Energy-based businesses. Other strategic initiatives include the implementation of a 421 kWp solar photovoltaic system at the company's Head Office, the development of biodiesel usage up to B100, substitution of fossil energy with renewable energy, overhaul and modification of mining equipment, as well as the electrification of transportation and operational vehicles. The company is also implementing various methods to support decarbonization activities, including carbon capture and storage, fuel substitution, the use of renewable energy with lower carbon footprints, improved energy efficiency, reduction of fugitive emissions, utilization of renewable energy certificates, and carbon offset programs. Through these various initiatives, PT TIMAH reaffirms its commitment to supporting the clean energy transition and sustainable development while contributing to the national effort to achieve the net zero emissions target by 2060.
