The ESG Finance Awards Japan was established by the Ministry of the Environment in 2019. Its purpose is to widely share the pioneering initiatives of institutional investors, financial institutions, and companies that have made a significant impact through their active engagement in ESG finance and environmental or social projects, thereby promoting and expanding ESG finance across society. In this year's awards, we received
the Special Award in recognition of our commitment to establishing greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets and a robust promotion framework. Furthermore, the selection reflected high expectations for our
comprehensive approach to addressing challenges unique to the logistics industry, enabling us to balance business expansion with the resolution of societal issues.
Reasons for Receiving the Special Award²
MITSUI-SOKO HOLDINGS was recognized for establishing clear GHG reduction targets and a robust implementation framework relative to their corporate size. The award highlights their comprehensive
approach to industry-specific challenges-including CO2 emissions, labor shortages, and disaster risks-and their commitment to managing GHG emissions across the entire value chain. They view supporting
customers in improving logistics efficiency and reducing environmental impact as a key growth opportunity. It is highly expected that their ability to balance business expansion with the resolution of societal issues will drive enhanced profitability. Furthermore, the Special Award was granted in anticipation of their future progress in expanding disclosure and initiatives from a broader perspective on natural capital, such as measures against invasive alien species.
