MITSUI-SOKO HOLDINGS Submits Commitment Letter for SBT Certification
MITSUI-SOKO HOLDINGS Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer, and Group CEO: Hirobumi Koga), which aims to obtain certification for the Science
Based Targets (hereinafter "SBT")¹ established under the Paris Agreement, submitted a commitment letter to the certification body, the Science Based Targets initiative (hereinafter "SBTi")², on March 19.
¹ SBT (Science Based Targets): Greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets set by companies in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
² SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative): An international collaborative initiative that verifies and certifies whether emission reduction targets set by companies are based on scientific evidence.
The MITSUI-SOKO Group has designated "Promoting climate change actions and resource circulation" as one of its key Materiality issues. We have been actively pursuing initiatives in energy efficiency and
generation to meet our self-established medium- to long-term CO₂ emission reduction targets³. Recognizing that addressing climate change is a fundamental social responsibility for a logistics provider, we will further accelerate our efforts to decarbonize the entire supply chain by establishing "near-term targets" in
accordance with the international SBT standards.
