[Speaker identities could not be resolved; generic labels used] [00:08] Speaker 1: All right, well, welcome everybody [00:10] Speaker 1: to the panel. We're going to discuss today [00:13] Speaker 1: cryptocurrencies [00:15] Speaker 1: and mining stocks and [00:17] Speaker 1: where younger people should be looking to invest. I know there's been a lot of interest [00:22] Speaker 1: in recent years, particularly among younger people who don't have as much experience [00:28] Speaker 1: investing. And [00:30] Speaker 1: So they've kind of [00:32] Speaker 1: gotten [00:33] Speaker 1: distracted away from maybe more traditional investments, stores of value like gold, [00:39] Speaker 1: and believe they've discovered [00:41] Speaker 1: a new digital version of gold, [00:44] Speaker 1: Bitcoin. [00:45] Speaker 1: And even though Bitcoin [00:47] Speaker 1: doesn't share any of the physical properties that give gold value or that make it a ideal store of value, [00:55] Speaker 1: people still believe [00:57] Speaker 1: that Bitcoin is going to have value anyway [01:00] Speaker 1: because it has managed to replicate [01:03] Speaker 1: some of the other properties that gold has in addition to its physical properties that make it a store of value. [01:10] Speaker 1: But like gold, Bitcoin is fungible and divisible and portable and storable. And so it has these other qualities [01:19] Speaker 1: that gold enjoys [01:21] Speaker 1: that made gold a better money than other commodities that have historically been used as money throughout history. [01:30] Speaker 1: But Bitcoin is not a commodity, even though maybe it may be defined by 1 by some regulators, [01:36] Speaker 1: because it doesn't have [01:39] Speaker 1: any actual use. [01:41] Speaker 1: But nonetheless, [01:43] Speaker ...
