East Lampung, September 4, 2025 - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental conservation by planting 10,000 mangrove seedlings in Pasir Sakti, East Lampung. This action is part of PTBA's ongoing efforts to restore damaged mangrove ecosystems areas.

The collaboration between PTBA Tarahan Port and the Mutiara Hijau I Forest Farmers Group (KTH) is key to this program. Mangrove planting is a strategic step because it plays a crucial role in maintaining the coastal ecosystems. Mangrove forests serve as a natural barrier that protects the coast from abrasion, filters water, provides an important habitat for a variety of marine life, and plays a vital role in climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration.

The planting of 10,000 seedlings is not the first time this has been done in Pasir Sakti. This program is a continuation of an initiative that began in 2024, where 10,000 seedlings were also planted. With this latest planting, the total number of mangrove seedlings that have greened Pasir Sakti has reached 20,000. This program is also a replication of the success achieved in Sidodadi Village, a village assisted by PTBA Port Tarahan, where 40,000 mangrove seedlings have been planted from 2022 to 2024.

Samsudin, a community leader and member of the KTH Mutiara Hijau I, emphasized that his group's commitment is not limited to planting activities but also includes post-planting care. "We are committed to replanting seedlings that failed to grow previously," said Samsudin. He also added that the current mangrove growth success rate has reached 85%, a very encouraging figure that demonstrates the sustainability of the program.

This activity also served as a multi-stakeholder collaboration event, attended by representatives from KTH Mutiara Hijau I, PTBA Tarahan Port, and students from various universities, including the University of Lampung, the Indonesian Technocrat University, and the Malang State Polytechnic. The participation of various parties is in line with the BA-MAXI program, an initiative of PTBA that aims to increase public awareness and participation in protecting the environment. Through this synergy, it is hoped that efforts to restore the mangrove ecosystem in East Lampung can continue and have a greater positive impact on the environment and the surrounding community.
