On October 10 of this year, Hidroelectrica has signed the works contract for the project "Stejaru HPP - HA1÷HA4 and power plant installations", one of the largest investment projects in the company's portfolio.
The contract, worth €97,486,604.81 excluding VAT, has been awarded to HIDROSERV SA, which will collaborate with the following subcontractors: Uzina de Construcții Mașini Hidroenergetice, General Design Tech, Compania de Consultanță în Energie și Mediu S.A., Hydro Proiect Invest, Electromontaj, Nibaco și Electromontaj Carpați S.A..
"We are pleased that the works will be carried out by Hidroserv, our subsidiary, which allows us to ensure a high level of quality and professionalism. Through this project, we want to confirm the company's consistency in the modernization of Hidroelectrica's patrimony and the strengthening of the internal execution capacity, by carrying out as many works as possible with our own forces.
The refurbishment of the Stejaru plant is a strategically important project in which we have invested significant effort, dedication, and resources. We believe that by signing this contract, we are taking a major step toward consolidating some of the most important production capacities in the company's portfolio - a commitment to our customers clients and investors," stated Bogdan Badea, President of Hidroelectrica's Directorate.
The investment is financed by Hidroelectrica's own funds, and the contract was awarded through an open tender procedure, based on the "best value for money" criterion, in accordance with the sectoral procurement legislation (Law No. 99/2016).
The project aims to modernize and completely refurbish the four Type I hydropower units (HA1-HA4), as well as the plant's general installations, contributing to increased energy efficiency, improved operational safety, and extended equipment lifespan. The contract duration is 66 months.
Located in Neamț County, the Stejaru Hydropower Plant (also known as "Dimitrie Leonida HPP") is part of the Bistrița River hydrotechnical system and represents a technological landmark of Romania's energy industry. The refurbishment works include design, equipment supply, assembly, commissioning, and post-implementation monitoring.
At present, Hidroelectrica is Romania's largest producer of renewable energy, managing a portfolio of 188 hydropower plants with a total capacity of 6.4 GW, as well as the Crucea wind farm with an installed capacity of 108 MW.
