I was actually the 1st investment banker in Canada focused on renewable energy and clean technology. [00:20] Speaker 1: That was beginning about 2000, [00:21] Speaker 1: late 2000, early 2001. [00:23] Speaker 1: So [00:24] Speaker 1: I've been an investment banker for quite a long time. [00:27] Speaker 1: Ran a full service investment dealer, which had sales, trading, investment banking and equity research [00:34] Speaker 1: that focused on renewables, clean tech, especially metals, battery metals, [00:40] Speaker 1: and some conventional infrastructure [00:42] Speaker 1: as well. [00:43] Speaker 1: And then more recently have been more of a principal investor, so a direct investor [00:48] Speaker 1: in companies, mostly in the same sector as renewable energy mostly. [00:56] Speaker 1: I co-founded [00:57] Speaker 1: a company that was called South Asia energy management systems, [01:01] Speaker 1: which became [01:03] Speaker 1: the largest hydro company in Sri Lanka. So we built, I think it was 13, 14 [01:08] Speaker 1: hydro sites, [01:09] Speaker 1: employed a lot of people, invested a lot of capital. We brought in about $100 million into the country and built [01:17] Speaker 1: a very successful company that then became a large hydro developer in Uganda as well. So taking all the talent that we built in Sri Lanka and developing new projects [01:27] Speaker 1: in Uganda.
