Kumamoto Earthquake Tests Semiconductor Supply Chain Resilience;Topco Scientific Ensures Uninterrupted Supply Through Multi-SiteBackup Operations

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan's Kyushu regionyesterday (July 28). Topco Scientific (TWSE: 5434), a leading integrated service provider ofcritical semiconductor materials, together with its Japanese subsidiary SHUNKAWA CO.,LTD., immediately conducted a comprehensive assessment of supply chain conditions andconfirmed that product supply remains unaffected. The company completed an inventoryinspection of its semiconductor materials on the evening of the earthquake, promptlynotified customers, and has maintained close communication with them, demonstratingthe stability of its supply chain and the resilience of its operations.
As leading global semiconductor manufacturers continue expanding their presence inKyushu, the resilience of the surrounding materials and equipment supply chain hasbecome a critical safeguard for manufacturing capacity. Anticipating this trend, Topco Scientific established the SHUNKAWA Kumamoto office in 2023 and built a warehouse and logistics center in Tosu, Kyushu, dedicated to semiconductor components and critical materials.
Topco Scientific Senior CEO, Dennis Chen, stated that the Tosu warehouse, benefiting from its geographic distance from the epicenter, experienced a seismic intensity of only around Level 3. Following an immediate inspection by the SHUNKAWA operations team, furnace quartz components were confirmed to be in good condition, while reclaimed wafers and specialty chemicals sustained no damage. The facility remains fully prepared
to activate emergency shipments and replenishment support whenever customers require, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of their production lines.
