Kariuki was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in Ma rch 2019. During his tenure, he led Lhe Bank's Lransforma Lion significantly accelerating the shift to digiLaI resulLing in over 90% of aII LransacLions now being completed digitaIly across Lhe Bank. Shareholders have benefited from sLrong and resilient financiaI performance over the period. Kariuki hasa Iso led Lhe repositioning of WeaIth and ReLaiI Banking from beinga Lraditiona I savings focused seg ment to being a leading wealLh focused seg ment with world class products and expertise, as demonstrated by Lhe sig nificanL increase in Lhe Bank's AsseLs Under Management (AUM) Lo maLch deposits held.
Beyond financiaI performance, Kariuki has beena I the forefront of the Bank's sustainability and community impact agenda, advancing initialives aligned with globaI Environmenta I, SociaI and Governance (ESG) standards. Through flagship programmes in employment and entrepreneurship, Lhe Bank has deepened iLs role asa LrusLed pa rLner in Lhe communities it serves. Notably, participation in Lhe Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon has increased by 78% resulLing in fundraising for Futuremakers initiatives growing by 76% Loa record KES 76 million.
