Sharp rise in concurrent users during second quarter signals continuing
growth
TORONTO, May 6 /CNW/ - SilverBirch Studios, a member of the SilverBirch Inc. (TSX-V: SVB) group of digital media companies, and G4Box today announced record sales and earnings for the Metin2 Online Multi-Player Game amid signs of continuing growth.
Metin2 (www.metin2.us) posted a new record of $32,000 for sales during its last week of operations during the second quarter. This represents a 100% increase over the previous quarter's highest weekly sales of $16,000. In addition, the number of daily concurrent users has reached 1,950 and continues to grow. This represents a 70% increase over the previous quarter's concurrent user base of 1,150 and the number of concurrent users has been a predictor of future game revenue growth.
"The rapid increase in Metin2's concurrent user base is an encouraging signal of continuing sales growth in the months ahead," said Wojtek Kawczynski, Senior Vice President, SilverBirch Studios. "With solid momentum behind it, Metin2 is on track to post more sales and earnings records."
Metin2, a 3D fantasy game involving a medieval battle of empires, is a leading title in the Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game ("MMORPG") genre, one of the fastest-growing segments of the online game market. It is part of a worldwide online game market that DFC Intelligence reports is forecasted to grow from US$3.4 billion in 2005 to over US$13 billion in 2011, 55 percent of which will be derived from MMORPG games.
