PANGKALPINANG -- Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency (BNN), together with the National Narcotics Agency of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (BNNP), conducted a working visit to PT TIMAH Tbk to strengthen collaboration in the Prevention, Eradication, Abuse, and Illicit Trafficking of Narcotics (P4GN) on Thursday (August 6, 2026).
The delegation was welcomed by the management of PT TIMAH's National Anti-Narcotics Movement (Geranat). The meeting marked an important step toward expanding the partnership between BNN and PT TIMAH in fostering a workplace free from drug abuse while strengthening public education efforts in communities surrounding the company's operational areas.
Wanda Ferdiana, Senior Community Empowerment Officer at the Deputy for Community Empowerment of the National Narcotics Agency, expressed appreciation for PT TIMAH's commitment to actively supporting various P4GN initiatives through Geranat as well as its ongoing collaboration with regional BNN offices.
"BNN cannot work alone. With our limited personnel, we rely on the support of all stakeholders. Therefore, we greatly appreciate PT TIMAH and Geranat for their consistent commitment to supporting efforts to prevent narcotics abuse," Wanda said.
During the meeting, both parties discussed several collaborative initiatives, including drug awareness campaigns, educational outreach for employees and local communities, and the implementation of regular urine drug testing as an early detection measure.
According to Wanda, PT TIMAH plays a strategic role because its operational areas are spread across various regions, including mining and coastal areas that require collective attention in preventing narcotics abuse.
"PT TIMAH has extensive operational areas, many of which are located in mining and coastal regions. This makes our collaboration especially important. We hope to build a broader and more impactful anti-drug prevention movement together," she said.
BNN also recognized PT TIMAH's routine implementation of urine drug testing for employees in collaboration with the Bangka Belitung Provincial BNN as evidence of the company's strong commitment to maintaining a healthy and drug-free workplace.
"During our discussion, we learned that urine testing is conducted on a regular basis. This demonstrates PT TIMAH's seriousness in ensuring that its work environment remains free from drug abuse. Ultimately, the goal is to create a workplace that is truly drug-free," she explained.
Through this collaboration, BNN hopes its partnership with PT TIMAH will not only strengthen efforts to prevent drug abuse within the company but also generate a positive impact on communities surrounding its operational areas. Public education, early detection, and the active involvement of all stakeholders are expected to serve as the foundation for creating a healthy, productive, and drug-free environment. (*)
