19 January 2026 PTBA Takes Firm Action Against Illegal Miners (PETI) Muara Enim, January 14, 2026 - PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) continues to strengthen the security of its corporate assets, one of which is through the installation of asset signage and fencing within the Mining Business License (IUP) area of Banko Tengah Block B, located in Tanjung Lalang Village and Pulau Panggung Village, Muara Enim Regency. A number of PTBA officials and internal representatives were present during the activity, including MOCS Department Head Taupan Ariansyah, Security Department Head AKBP Eddy Aprianto Haka, Danramil 404-05/TE Captain Inf Kamaludin, Security Operations Section Head Bernard Simanjuntak, the Security Operations team, the PTBA Land & Building Asset team, the Site Office Maintenance team, the In-House Mining SHE team, as well as security personnel from Kodam II/Sriwijaya, Kodim 0404/Muara Enim, and Koramil 404-05/Tanjung Enim. MOCS Department Head Taupan Ariansyah emphasized that the installation of asset signage and fencing represents a firm measure to prevent land encroachment and illegal mining activities (PETI) within company-owned areas. Accompanied by TNI personnel from Kodim 0404/Muara Enim and Koramil 404-05/Tanjung Enim, the installation activities were carried out over four days, from Wednesday (January 7, 2026) to Saturday (January 10, 2026). Taupan explained that the security measures originated from findings on December 29, 2025, when a newly created access road was discovered, allegedly used for illegal mining activities at two locations, namely near Post 3 in Pulau Panggung and Post 6 in Tanjung Lalang. These findings were subsequently reported to the Commander of Kodim 0404/Muara Enim and the Assistant for Operations of Kodam II/Sriwijaya for further action. "As a follow-up, PTBA coordinated with TNI units to install asset signage and fencing, as well as to close illegal access routes crossing PTBA's free land," he explained. On the first day of the activity, in addition to installing fences and signage, the team also constructed an elephant trench along one of the illegal mining access routes and conducted aerial monitoring using drones to ensure there were no illegal mining activities in the area. From the second to the fourth day, the activities focused on completing the fence installation in the Post 6 area of Tanjung Lalang Village, as well as installing asset signage and constructing elephant trenches in the Post 3 area of Pulau Panggung Village. Throughout the activity, the team also conducted routine drone monitoring and delivered advisories to community members passing through areas surrounding PTBA's free land. As of the fourth day of implementation, field conditions were observed to be safe and under control. The installation of fences and asset signage is planned to continue until all security points are completed, with an estimated total duration of approximately seven days, while remaining under the supervision of TNI personnel. Through these measures, PTBA reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding and protecting state assets. Furthermore, this initiative serves as a follow-up to the directive of President Prabowo Subianto to eradicate illegal mining activities in order to ensure safe, orderly, and sustainable mining operations.
