Celebrating the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence, PTBA Powering Energy, Empowering Communities, Protecting the Environment

Tanjung Enim, August 17, 2026 - The spirit of independence continues to be manifested by PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) through tangible contributions to the nation's progress. On the occasion of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, the Company reaffirms its commitment to "Together for Indonesia" through energy provision, community empowerment, and sustainable environmental management.

As part of the national energy ecosystem, PTBA supports energy security by supplying coal for domestic needs, including power generation. These supplies help maintain electricity availability for communities, public services, industries, and economic activities.

PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan said that contributing to the nation is a manifestation of the spirit of independence that the Company continues to uphold.

"For us, independence means having the spirit to continuously give our best for the nation. PTBA wants to ensure that energy is available to drive the lives and economy of Indonesia. At the same time, we are empowering communities to become more self-reliant and ensuring that the environment is preserved. Bambang added that the Company's commitment is also realized through various Environmental and Social Responsibility (ESR) programs for communities surrounding its operational areas, or Ring 1. These programs cover economic empowerment, education, healthcare, MSME development, and environmental conservation.

PTBA promotes ESR programs that strengthen community capacity and self-reliance. One example is Desa Impian, which develops local resource-based economic potential while strengthening sustainable environmental management.

"We want communities around our operational areas to grow alongside PTBA as our partners. Therefore, we continue to create economic opportunities, build capacity, and encourage greater community self-reliance," he said.

In environmental management, PTBA is strengthening its sustainability efforts through the development of new and renewable energy, coal downstreaming, biomass utilization, green businesses, as well as the reclamation and rehabilitation of post-mining land.
