PTBA Actively Supports Forest and Land Fire Response, Strengthens Rapid Response and CollaborationTanjung Enim, September 7, 2026 - PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA), a member of the MIND ID Mining Industry Holding, continues to strengthen its contribution to forest and land fire (Karhutla) response through prevention, preparedness, and rapid response to emergency situations.
Through its Accident & Fire Management (A&FM) function, PTBA supports forest and land fire control and suppression efforts both within and outside the company's operational areas. These efforts are carried out swiftly, effectively, and in a coordinated manner to minimize the impact of fires on people, assets, and the environment.
Throughout August 2026, PTBA's A&FM team responded to 77 forest and land fire incidents, comprising 61 incidents in mining areas and 16 incidents in non-mining areas. Cumulatively, from January 1 to August 31, 2026, a total of 96 forest and land fire incidents have been handled.
Forest and land fire response efforts in mining areas are carried out through collaboration between PTBA's A&FM team and several business partners, namely PT PAMA, PT SBS, PT PPA, PT AMM, and PT BAK. The collaboration includes the deployment of personnel, provision of facilities and infrastructure, firefighting equipment, as well as operational coordination in the field.
In addition to strengthening the protection of its operational areas and Ring 1 communities, PTBA also has rescue teams stationed across several regions to support a broader emergency response. PTBA's rescue teams are deployed in South Sumatra and Kalimantan, enabling them to be mobilized to support forest and land fire response as well as other emergency situations, based on operational needs and coordination with local stakeholders.
As part of the synergy within the MIND ID ecosystem, PTBA also provided support for forest and land fire response efforts at PT BAI in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. As part of this support, PTBA deployed five personnel to assist with fire response efforts at the site.
PTBA President Director Bambang Ismawan said that effective forest and land fire response requires adequate resources, rapid response capabilities, and collaboration among various stakeholders to ensure that every incident can be handled effectively.
"PTBA is committed to continuously strengthening its preparedness and response capabilities in addressing forest and land fires. With the support of rescue teams deployed across South Sumatra and Kalimantan, as well as collaboration with business partners, MIND ID, the government, the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and local communities, we strive to ensure that every incident is responded to swiftly and in a coordinated manner. This effort is part of PTBA's responsibility to safeguard people, assets, and the environment in a sustainable manner," Bambang explained.
Forest and land fire response is also part of PTBA's commitment to fostering a strong safety culture and emergency preparedness. The company continues to strengthen coordination among internal teams, business partners, stakeholders, and communities to enhance the effectiveness of response efforts in the field.
Bambang emphasized that through continuous collaboration and strengthened resource capacity, PTBA seeks to enhance its response capabilities to potential and actual forest and land fire incidents, while supporting environmental protection and the continuity of community activities around its operational areas.
"These efforts are aligned with PTBA's commitment to conducting its operations responsibly by prioritizing safety, environmental protection, and positive contributions to communities," Bambang concluded.
