About this update from Power Construction Corporation Of China, Ltd. Class A
The Djoemoe Station can provide a 24/7 stable power supply to local communities. On Jan 22, the Djoemoe Station of the Suriname Villages Micro-grid Solar Project Phase II, constructed by POWERCHINA, was successfully completed and officially put into operation. A plaque unveiling and lighting ceremony was held to mark the commissioning of the station. The Suriname Villages Micro-grid Solar Project Phase II is an off-grid hybrid micro-grid system integrating solar photovoltaic power, energy storage, and diesel generators. The project covers a total of nine stations located along the Suriname River and the Marowijne River in Saramacca District, benefiting 45 forest villages. The project has a total installed solar capacity of 5.349 MW, supported by 18.6 MWh of energy storage and diesel generators with a total capacity of 2.813 MVA. Approximately 100 kilometers of medium- and low-voltage distribution lines were constructed simultaneously. Upon full operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 8,780 MWh of electricity annually, significantly enhancing energy security in remote areas of Suriname. The newly commissioned Djoemoe Station is the fourth completed station under Phase II of the project. It will provide stable, round-the-clock electricity to nine forest villages, with an estimated annual power generation of about 2,000 MWh, offering reliable energy support for local production and daily life along the river communities. The successful commissioning of the Djoemoe Station not only demonstrates POWERCHINA's strong technical capabilities and engineering expertise in the renewable energy sector, but also contributes sustainable green energy solutions to support long-term development in Suriname's remote regions.
