POWERCHINA signed the contract for the Conchagua 30 MW Photovoltaic (PV) Project in El Salvador on March 9. This marks the company's formal entry into the Central American new energy market and represents a major step forward in advancing regional renewable energy development. Located in the region of La Unión Bay, southeast of the capital San Salvador, this project holds pioneering significance as the country's first large-scale centralized PV power plant. The project's scope covers the entire construction process from the PV plant to the 34.5/115 kV booster station, including engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and commercial operation. Upon completion, the plant is expected to generate an average of 71.2 million kWh of electricity annually. This will meet the clean energy needs of tens of thousands of local households, providing strong support for El Salvador's efforts to optimize its energy structure and achieve its carbon neutrality goals. During construction and subsequent operations, the project is expected to create hundreds of local jobs, promote collaborative development across the upstream and downstream PV industry chain, and inject new momentum into the economic diversification of the region of La Unión Bay.
