Today, April 16, 2026, at the opening of the trading session, Hidroelectrica's market capitalization exceeded the 70-billion-lei threshold, reaching as high as 72.4 billion lei at the session peak within the first few minutes of trading - an all-time record for the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The solid appreciation reflects the company's ambitious investment plans, combined with the consolidation of its position as the largest electricity producer and supplier in Romania, as well as with an increased focus on optimizing trading operations. The remarkable performance since the beginning of the year, a yield of nearly 30%, around 10 percentage points above the BET index average, confirms that the "voice of the market" strongly favors Hidroelectrica.
"Exceeding the 70-billion-lei capitalization threshold clearly shows that the market has confidence in the direction we are heading. It is the result of our work over the past years - higher investment levels, continuation of existing projects, new initiatives and a constant effort to make the company more efficient and better adapted to the realities of the energy sector. We have clearly committed to diversifying and hybridizing our portfolio by integrating generation capacities with storage solutions and new technologies. We will maintain this pace, focusing on development, digitalization, and the creation of real value for shareholders, while contributing to a more stable and cleaner energy system in Romania," said Bogdan Badea, CEO of Hidroelectrica.
While on April 15, 2026, Hidroelectrica shares had approached the capitalization threshold of 70 billion lei - corresponding to a stock price of 155.60 lei, without surpassing it - during today's session the level was exceeded right from the opening of trading. Subsequently, the price continued to rise, reaching a high of 161 lei around 10:36 a.m., pushing the company's capitalization above 72.4 billion lei, setting a new record for the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
After the first hour of trading, the stock was quoted around 160 lei, corresponding to a market capitalization of nearly 72 billion lei. Since the beginning of the year, the return has reached approximately 29%, ranking fifth-highest among BET constituents and about 10 percentage points above the index's overall performance.
Following a significant increase in investment levels (CAPEX) in 2025, reaching 781 million lei, Hidroelectrica aims to continue its ambitious investment program in 2026, as outlined in the 2026 Budget, which will be published at the end of April, alongside the call for the General Shareholders' Meeting to approve it.
Hidroelectrica has further strengthened its position as Romania's largest electricity producer, generating 100% green energy, with an average market share of approximately 27% over the past five years. The company has also become, in record time (less than four years), the largest electricity supplier in Romania, recording as of December 31, 2025, a total market share of 17.4% and 18.6% on the competitive market segment. The company manages a portfolio of 188 hydropower plants with an installed capacity exceeding 6.3 GW, as well as the Crucea Nord wind farm, with an installed capacity of 108 MW - where a storage battery with a nominal power of 36 MW and a storage capacity of 72 MWh will be commissioned in May-June 2026.
