Genesis intends to begin a cold survey of Huntly Rankine Unit 2 from 1 December 2025, subject to 10-year Huntly Firming Options (HFOs) being approved by the Commerce Commission. Unit 2 is currently scheduled to be removed from service in January 2026. However, the proposed arrangements between Genesis, Mercury, Meridian, and Contact would, if authorised, provide for the unit to remain in service out to 2035.
