GUELPH, ON, Feb. 23 /CNW/ - Dr. Gene Shelp, President and CEO of ENPAR
Technologies Inc. ("ENPAR"), is pleased to announce that ENPAR has signed a
Distribution and Sales Representative Agreement for the DesEL System with HBC
International of San Diego, California.
HBC International is a multidisciplinary engineering company with its
corporate office located in San Diego, CA. Originally founded in 1988, the
company has provided process development and consulting services for
industries that include mining and metal processing, bio-technology and agro-
industry with a particular emphasis on water treatment.
Over the past fifteen years, HBC International has worked closely with
mining companies to develop water treatment technologies and manage
environmental cleanup and remediation programs.
"We have been evaluating water treatment technologies, specializing in
mine-related waters for many years," stated Helmar G. Bayer, President of HBC
International. "Capacitive deionization is a very intriguing technology due to
its potential for higher recovery than membrane filtration and the capability
to preferentially remove contaminants without complete deionization. The low
operating and maintenance requirements are also significant aspects."
To facilitate on-site testing and laboratory-based feasibility testing
for the mining industry, HBC International has purchased a DesEL-400 Unit.
The DesEL System is a proven alternative to conventional water treatment
systems for removing both dissolved contaminants such as arsenic, mercury,
nitrate, and other dissolved ions from industrial waste water, process water
and drinking water sources.

ENPAR is a "Technology Company" applying its patented and proprietary
"Electrochemical Technologies" to the treatment of waste water and drinking
water contaminated by metals or nutrients i.e., nitrate/ammonia associated
with the mining, metal processing, chemical, agricultural, municipal and waste
management sectors. The common shares trade on Tier ll of the TSX Venture
