10 Fully-Equipped Offices and Mobile Units, from Vancouver to Halifax, Already
Comply With RCMP Real Time Identification Mandate
TORONTO, Dec. 20 /CNW/ -- ComnetiX(TM) Inc (Toronto: CXI), a
leading provider of biometric identification and authentication solutions,
announced that it has established Canada's first comprehensive electronic
fingerprinting service with 10 offices from Vancouver to Halifax, and with an
estimated 55 percent of the private fingerprinting market in Canada, ComnetiX
is also the country's leading supplier of fingerprinting services. The
service is fully compliant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Real
Time Identification (RTID) Project.
According to John Conohan, ComnetiX VP Fingerprinting Services Canada, the
balance of the market is split among 15 vendors that provide similar services.
ComnetiX processes approximately 70,000 fingerprints annually for more than
200 immigration lawyers and consultants and roughly 50 private corporations.
The service is used to screen for a wide range of reasons, from applications
for employment, immigration, citizenship and foreign visas, to international
adoptions of children. They are also used by those seeking criminal pardons
and US waivers for entry into the United States, and by companies seeking US
federal government contracts.
"ComnetiX continues to take a very pro-active approach to implementing our
technology solutions, both externally and internally," commented Conohan. "We
have transformed our fingerprinting services business unit from an
ink-and-roll operation into a high performance, state-of-the-art business
service. And I'm happy to say that we completed the integration of our
technology almost a year ahead of the timeline set by the RCMP for direct
receipt of electronic fingerprint submissions. Staying ahead of the RTID
implementation has also allowed us to ensure that all offices and staff are
fully familiar with the technology and the new processes, and that clients are
educated about the use of this technology in advance."
James P Scullion, ComnetiX CEO, said, "In Canada any organization can
request fingerprint-based background checks of its members or employees
whereas, in the United States, only those organizations that are governed by
various state and federal regulations may actually receive a background check
in response to their request. However, that is expected to change in the near
future. And as the US opens the service to private organizations, we expect
our fingerprinting services group to benefit readily as various federal
antiterrorist-based mandates proposed to meet the requirements of the USA
Patriot Act, such as US Visit and the Hazmat Threat Assessment Program (for
which ComnetiX is already a subcontractor), begin their respective
implementations."
