Mr. Van Nieuwenhuyse was appointed to serve as President, Chief Executive Officer, and director of the Company effective January 6, 2020. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Trilogy Metals Inc. from January 2012 until December 2019. Between May 1999 and January of 2012, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of NOVAGOLD, Inc, a company that he founded. He served as the Vice President of Exploration for Placer Dome from 1990 to 1997. Mr. Van Nieuwenhuyse holds a Candidature degree in Science from Université de Louvain, Belgium and a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Arizona. Mr. Van Nieuwenhuyse currently serves on the board of directors of Alexco Resource Corp. He served on the board of directors of Sandfire Resources America, Inc. (formerly, Tintina Resources Inc.) from 2008 until 2016. Mr. Van Nieuwenhuyse has over forty years of experience in the minerals mining industry and brings significant industry and technical knowledge to the Company.

Speaker 1: Today I have the pleasure of being joined by Contango Ores President and CEO Rick Van Nuenheise for a quick interview Speaker 1: on his history in the industry, his current projects, and his viewpoint on the current state of junior mining. So Rick, how are you today? Speaker 2: I'm great, Romeo. Speaker 1: Good to see you again. Yeah, it's great to see you. Speaker 1: So I know there's a couple of things we wanna talk about today, but I'd love to start with your history, Speaker 1: both in the industry, but also just in rocks generally. Speaker 1: So I'd love to know what got you into a geology education and was your career path always clear when you were studying or did you have different plans and life kind of took its own route? Yeah, no, I knew I wanted to be a geologist from a pretty young age. I always liked rocks and maps and that kind of just directed Speaker 2: my interest in studies. Speaker 2: I actually went back to university Speaker 2: in Belgium Speaker 2: because I knew I wanted to work in Africa, Speaker 2: that was 1 of my life goals was to work in Africa. So I actually did my studies at the French section even though I'm from the Flemish part of Belgium. Speaker 2: And that served me well because I actually did end up doing a lot of work in West Africa, so where French was a good language to know. So yeah, I've always known I wanted to be a geologist. In fact, I wouldn't know what the heck else I'd do if I wasn't. Speaker 1: That's like Clarity of purpose is definitely good. Speaker 1: And I know you kind of went from, you know, your geology career went from school to ultimately being VPX at Placer Dome, but then shifting to kind of founder, CEO of NovaGold.
