Notice Regarding the Launch of "Data Sharing Platform" to Improve the Efficiency of the Entire Asset Management and Asset Administration Industry

(Notice Regarding the Commencement of Service Provision Based on the Business Alliance Announced on March 21, 2025)

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, Inc. (President & CEO: Kazuya Oyama), Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited (President: Manatomo Yoneyama, hereinafter collectively referred to as "SuMi TRUST Group"), Daiwa Securities Group Inc. (President and CEO: Akihiko Ogino), and Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd. (President: Atsushi Mochizuki, hereinafter collectively referred to as "Daiwa Securities Group") aim to reform the asset management industry as part of the government's "Policy Plan for Promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center" by improving the efficiency of the entire asset management industry, and by combining the strengths and expertise of both groups. This is based on the press release as of March 21, 2025, which title is "Notice Regarding Business Alliance in Asset Management and Asset Administration between Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group and Daiwa Securities Group (Accelerating Efforts Towards Policy Plan for Promoting Japan as a Leading Asset Management Center)" (*1).

We have now established a "data sharing platform" (hereinafter referred to as the "Platform") to facilitate the smooth exchange of information and data between asset management companies and trust banks and have started providing the service to asset management companies. Currently, the exchange of information and data between asset management companies and trust banks takes various forms depending on the type of information and data. Using the Platform will enable the unification of information and data exchange methods. Initially the Platform will cover a limited set of information and data; however, we plan to gradually expand its scope, which we believe will lead to a reduced burden for middle and back office operations in asset management companies. In order to perform the Single-NAV calculation, which is one of the longstanding issues in the asset management industry, we must unify the information and data exchange methods, and we think the Platform is the first step towards the Single-NAV calculation.

As the first user of the Platform, we have signed contracts with Daiwa Asset Management Co. Ltd. (President: Kei Sano), a subsidiary of Daiwa Securities Group Inc. We plan to sign contracts with other users, and aim to unify the methods and enhance productivity for the exchange of information and data for the benefit of the entire industry.

We believe that by building a scheme that can be used and shared across the industry, while promoting the use of data, we will streamline the Single-NAV calculation and standardize middle and back-office operations including its systems. This will contribute to enhance asset management companies' productivity and encourage new entrants into the market. We will continue to bring together their expertise. In combination with the Platform, SuMi TRUST Group will provide BPO services (*2) (JABIS® (*3)) to asset management companies, while Daiwa Securities Group will provide IT solutions, thus contributing to the productivity enhancement and development of the entire industry.
