SLC Agrícola, one of Brazil's leading producers of agricultural commodities, has been recognized for the fifth consecutive time with the Gold Seal from the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program, the highest distinction awarded to companies that demonstrate excellence in the management and transparency of their greenhouse gas emissions.
The Gold Seal recognizes the inventory of carbon emissions and removals for 2025. In total, more than 544,000 metric tons of CO2 were removed from the atmosphere through regenerative practices of no-till farming and the use of cover crops.
For Álvaro Dilli, HR and Sustainability Director at SLC Agrícola, the achievement represents an important milestone for the company. "Having an accurate understanding of the impact of our operations is the starting point for setting priorities and increasing the effectiveness of our climate initiatives. This recognition demonstrates the maturity of our environmental agenda and strengthens our commitment to the sustainable advancement of agribusiness," he says.
The recognition is the result of an integrated strategy that SLC Agrícola has adopted since 2022, when it committed to making its operations net carbon neutral by 2030, considering Scopes 1 and 2, which encompass the company's direct emissions from its activities and the indirect emissions associated with electricity consumption, respectively.
"This recognition underscores the company's commitment to an increasingly responsible way of operating, strengthening its leadership in the climate agenda and advancing its trajectory toward carbon neutrality," Álvaro concludes.
Carbon-neutral farms
Of the 26 farms owned by SLC Agrícola, five were considered carbon neutral in 2025: Paineira, in Piauí; and Parceiro, Palmares, Paladino, and Panorama, in Bahia. In the emissions balance for these farms, 38,197 metric tons of CO2 were removed from the atmosphere, a figure comparable to 272 million kilometers driven by a gasoline-powered car. The Palmares and Panorama farms are carbon neutral for the second straight year.
