Jun. 7, 2010 (Filing Services Canada) -- Boxxer Gold Corp. (BXX - TSX Venture), ("Boxxer" or the "Corporation") is very pleased to provide an update on exploration activities related to its 100% owned Boss porphyry copper-gold project located in the Goodsprings Mining District, southwest Nevada. Highlights of the current sampling program are outlined below.
Highlights:
* Ongoing discussions with the Bureau of Land Management ("BLM") regarding approval to commence an 8,000 metre diamond drilling program to test 12 of the 32 IP anomalies outlined in two areas of the project;
* Two new zones of copper-gold mineralization have been located in the Boss Extension skarn including 1.92% copper and 0.72 g/t gold in area chip samples;
* A zone of skarn hosted copper-cobalt-silver mineralization has been located at the former Surprise Mine with values up to 3.41% copper, 17.8 g/t silver and 0.55% cobalt; and,
* A large area of silicified limestone intruded by a quartz monzonite dike yielded values ranging from 0.05 to 0.52 g/t gold and 1.10 to 13.70 g/t silver south of the Keystone Thrust Fault.
Boxxer's President and CEO, Elmer B. Stewart, explained, "The geochemical data and other criteria suggest the Boss Extension skarn is near the centre of the potential porphyry system. Our work continues to locate new zones of copper-gold mineralization that provide a better understanding of the District and its porphyry copper potential. The recent recognition of a 16 kilometre long, wide, intensely folded structural zone cut by north-south faulting that hosts multiple intrusives and at least five areas of mineralized skarn strongly support the porphyry copper-gold model being used to explore the Boss Project."
Boxxer's new land acquisitions around the Boss property and copper showings can be viewed here: http://www.usetdas.com/maps/boxxermap.pdf.
Diamond Drilling Program:
Boxxer is preparing to commence an 8,000 m diamond drilling program to test 12 of the 32 IP targets outlined to date on the Boss project. The IP survey completed to date covered approximately 20% of the Boss project. An extension to the Notice of Work has been filed with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). An update will be provided on the commencement of the proposed diamond drilling program on receipt of information from the BLM.
Boxxer has signed a drilling contract with Marcus & Marcus Exploration Inc. to complete the 8,000 m program. A geologist has been retained to supervise the drilling program (including core logging) and the logistics related to the core sawing, sampling and analysis of the samples has been arranged.
Boss Extension - New Discoveries:
Two new zones of copper-gold mineralization have been located outside the area of copper-gold mineralization previously identified in the Boss Extension skarn. The representative characterization sampling completed to determine copper-gold concentrations and the geochemical signature of the mineralization for each zone yielded the following results:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SAMPLE ID SAMPLE TYPE INTERVAL COPPER GOLD SILVER
(M) (%) (G/T) (G/T)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
B12-01-2010 Area Chip 2 metres by 2 metres 0.48 0.120 7.50
B12-02-2010 Area Chip 1 metre by 1 metre 1.92 0.720 7.80
B13-01-2010 Area Chip select 0.17 0.871 7.10
B13-01-2010 Channel 1.00 0.74 0.417 8.30
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new zones of mineralization designated Boss -12 and Boss -13, contain the same range of concentrations of copper and gold as the other 19 zones of copper-gold mineralization located within the Boss Extension skarn. The copper mineralization in the Boss -12 zone covers an area of approximately 50 m by 30 m and an area of 20 m by 15 m in the Boss-13 zone. These mineralized areas are open in three directions, contain significant concentrations of platinum and palladium and exhibit a strong arsenic-cobalt-nickel-molybdenum geochemical signature. Copper mineralization is exposed in outcrop from the portal to the end of a 10 metre long adit on the Boss -13 zone.
Surprise Mine - New Acquisition:
Boxxer recently acquired the rights to this former mine site (see News Release dated May 3, 2010) which is reported to have produced 41 tons grading 31% zinc and 6% lead (Hewitt 1931, p.147) before closing in 1917. The four characterization samples collected to determine the style of mineralization and the geochemical signature yielded the following results:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sample ID Sample Type Interval copper Gold silver Cobalt
(m) (%) (g/t) (g/t) (ppm)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SM-01-2010 Area Chip 1 metres by 1 metres 0.01 0.010 6.50 12
SM-02-2010 Area Chip 2.5 metres by 1.5 metres 0.05 0.035 8.00 5490
SM-03-2010 Area Chip 2.5 metres by 2.5 metres 0.03 0.055 8.60 1970
SM-04-2010 Channel 3.5 metres 3.41 0.041 17.80 134
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The samples were collected from a skarn exposed in outcrop over an area of 60 metres by 150 metres. The skarn is similar to that which hosts the former Columbia copper mine located approximately 1.5 kilometres to the east of the Surprise mine. The mineralized area shows a strong arsenic-lead-zinc-nickel-molybdenum geochemical signature and several very high cobalt values. The significance of the cobalt concentrations is not known.
Clementina Area:
This area is covered by patented and unpatented mineral claims currently held by Boxxer located west of the Keystone Thrust Fault. In the early years of the Goodsprings District, the mining of high-grade gold mineralization at the intrusive-limestone contact occurred along the Keystone Thrust Fault. The four reconnaissance samples collected yielded the following results:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Sample ID Sample Type Interval Copper Gold Silver
(m) (ppm) (g/t) (g/t)
----------------------------------------------------------------
CL-01-2010 Area Chip 1 metres by 1 metres 90 0.141 7.70
CL-02-2010 Area Chip 1 metres by 1 metres 38 0.050 1.30
CL-03-2010 Area Chip 1 metres by 1 metres 80 0.521 13.70
CL-04-2010 Area Chip 1 metres by 1 metres 15 0.289 1.10
----------------------------------------------------------------
Samples CL-01, CL-02 and CL-03 are silicified limestone with thin limonitic fractures. Sample Cl-04 is from a 10 metres wide porphyritic intrusive of quartz monzonite composition. These samples were collected over an area that measures 400 metres by 150 metres.
Sample Preparation and Analysis:
All select and channel samples were collected with a hammer and chisel and represents either the style of copper mineralization exposed in outcrop or the material to be sampled. Sample weights ranged from 0.2 to 3.5 kilograms. All samples were prepared by Loring Laboratories (Alberta) Ltd. in Calgary, Alberta using a 0.5 gram sample and a 3 acid total digestion. A 30 element Induced Couple Plasma ("ICP") analysis was completed on all samples. Gold, platinum and palladium values were determined using a fire assay with ICP finish on a 30 gram sample. Copper values over 10,000 parts per million were assayed. Silver values were determined by nitric acid digestion on a 0.5 gram sample with an atomic absorption finish. Loring's quality control system complies with the requirements for the International Standards ISO 9001:2008. Analytical accuracy and precision are monitored by the use of international and in-house standards.
Quality Control:
Boxxer follows a rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control program consisting of inserting blanks and duplicates into the sample stream submitted to the laboratory for analysis.
Elmer B. Stewart, MSc. P. Geol., President of Boxxer, is the Corporation's nominated Qualified Person pursuant to National Instrument #43-101, Standards for Disclosure for Mineral Projects, has reviewed the technical information disclosed in this news release.
