João Baptista Borges, Angola's Minister of Energy and Water, inspected the Quilongo Water Supply Project built by POWERCHINA on Aug 6. Accompanied by his delegation, Borges toured the construction site, inspecting key areas such as the raw water intake pumping station and the water treatment plant. After receiving a detailed progress report, he expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of construction. He noted that the Quilongo Water Supply Project is a key infrastructure initiative in Angola's water sector and a vital public welfare project designed to secure water supplies for Luanda and Icolo e Bengo provinces. It plays a crucial role in boosting regional water security and driving local socio-economic development. He urged all participating contractors to adhere to the established schedule, ensuring the project is completed as soon as possible to benefit the local population. The Quilongo Water Supply Project is a priority livelihood initiative championed by the Angolan government. Currently, the main structures of the intake pumping station and water treatment plant are nearly complete, with the final tasks progressing smoothly. Once completed, the project will achieve a daily water supply capacity of 518,000 cubic meters, providing stable and safe drinking water for approximately 5 million residents. This will enhance regional water supply capacity and foster sustainable local economic and social development.
