AM/NS India Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Integrated Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh, Southern India

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Private Limited (AM/NS India), an important base of Nippon Steel Corporation (Nippon Steel), held the groundbreaking ceremony for its integrated steel plant project on March 23, 2026, in Rajayapeta, Anakapalli District, Andhra Pradesh, southern India.

The ceremony was attended by the Hon'ble Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh; Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy, Union Minister of Steel and Heavy Industries; as well as other distinguished officials from the central and state governments.

This project represents AM/NS India's capacity expansion investment through the construction of a greenfield integrated steel plant in Andhra Pradesh. By introducing advanced steelmaking technologies, the project will contribute significantly to the sustainable growth of India's steel industry and the enhancement of its global competitiveness. Furthermore, the project will make a significant contribution to key initiatives of the Government of India, including the "Make in India" program and the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (a self-reliant India).

In addition to the ongoing capacity expansion at the Hazira Steel Plant in Gujarat, western India, AM/NS India will capture future growth in steel demand in the Indian market through this project and further strengthen its market presence.
