Reasons for the Differences
Operating income for the non-consolidated financial results for the full fiscal year fell below the previous forecast due to lower-than-expected shipment volumes stemming from sluggish demand in the construction industry, which is our main customer base, as well as deteriorated margins associated with rising scrap prices, among other factors. However, ordinary income exceeded the previous forecast, supported by net
valuation gains, including foreign exchange gains.
Net income came in below the previous forecast, as losses expected to arise from the dissolution of PT. KRAKATAU OSAKA STEEL, our consolidated subsidiary, were recorded as extraordinary losses,
comprising 19,353 million yen in provisions for doubtful accounts receivable from affiliated companies and 4,509 million yen in loss on business withdrawal.
