Nichirei Corporation has been selected for the first time as an "A List" company-the highest rating-in the "Climate Change" category by CDP, the global environmental nonprofit organization for environmental information disclosure.
This score reflects that Nichirei Group has provided comprehensive disclosure, demonstrating its global leadership in corporate transparency and advanced environmental governance, as well as meaningful progress toward environmental resilience.
The Nichirei Group has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, by reducing GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions from its entire supply chain to zero to the extent possible, both in Japan and overseas. We will also implement programs to achieve carbon neutrality by absorbing or removing the GHG emissions those which we cannot reduce.
Climate change initiatives are positioned as one of our Group Material Matters (Materiality). We are steadily implementing measures such as installing rooftop solar panels at our sites, procuring renewable energy through off-site PPAs (power purchase agreements), and introducing battery storage systems to maximize the use of renewable energy. In the future, Nichirei Group will continue to actively address social challenges through our business activities, including improving energy efficiency and eliminating
fluorocarbon refrigerants.
