Modernisation of 31 km section between Maksymilianowo and Wierzchucin Design and installation of computer-controlled railway signalling, safety and telecommunications systems Increased capacity, higher speeds and improved connections to the seaports at the Gulf of Gdańsk STRABAG has signed a contract with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., the Polish railway infrastructure manager, to deliver another strategic infrastructure project in Poland. The contract covers Section 2 of Railway Line No. 201 between Maksymilianowo and Wierzchucin to upgrade and enhance the railway infrastructure over a distance of more than 31 kilometres. The project forms part of the comprehensive modernisation of the Maksymilianowo-Kościerzyna route and directly adjoins STRABAG's ongoing project at the Maksymilianowo railway junction. The contract is valued at approximately 255 million euros, with construction scheduled to take 32 months from contract signing. Design and construction from a single source The project combines complex design services with comprehensive construction works. The aim of the investment is to modernise the line and improve its technical performance. The contract also covers the design and installation of modern signalling and train control systems as well as telecommunications infrastructure. Expanded track infrastructure, including a new track at Błądzim station, will allow for additional connections. The works further comprise the construction of three new signal cabins in Stronno, Serock and Błądzim, as well as several civil engineering structures such as road overpasses and a bridge. Increased capacity at key railway junction Maksymilianowo station, where two major freight corridors intersect, is one of the most important transport hubs in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Once completed, passenger trains will be able to operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h, while freight trains will reach speeds of up to 120 km/h, reducing travel times and accelerating freight transport to the major seaports of the Tricity area on the Gulf of Gdańsk. The modernisation of the Maksymilianowo railway junction is an important milestone for us in the expansion of rail infrastructure in one of our key Eastern European markets. Drawing on our extensive experience in railway construction, we are now looking forward to successfully delivering the adjoining section as well. Simultaneously acting as general contractor for two neighbouring sections creates logistical synergies, enables efficient construction processes and ensures safe railway operations throughout the construction period.
