31 July 2025 Technical Note Australian Water Licence (AWL) 625158 Underground Water Volume Taken As per the Underground Water Monitoring Program and Condition 21 of AWL 625158, granted to New Acland Coal Pty Ltd (NAC) on the 20 October 2022. "21. The licensee must publish the volume of underground water taken under this licence by 31 July each calendar year. This data must remain published and publicly available while this licence remains in force." The 2023 updated groundwater model is considered the most robust and reliable tool available for assessing the response of the groundwater system to NAC's mining activities. The results from the 2023 updated model have therefore been adopted for the 2024-25 underground water taken calculation. Within the 2023 updated numerical groundwater model report, the median estimated rate of take of groundwater by the active mine pits in Year 2 of the Stage 3 Project is 0.40 ML/day over the year. NAC reports 146 ML of underground water has been taken since the granting of this AWL till 30 June 2025 (Table 1).
