MONTREAL, May 29 /CNW Telbec/ - The Montreal Exchange (MX) will launch the first public market for environmental products in Canada, the Montreal Climate Exchange (MCeX), on May 30, 2008.
The Montreal Exchange will be joined by Quebec Premier, Mr. Jean Charest; Quebec's Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks, Mrs. Line Beauchamp; Canada's Environment Minister, the Honourable John Baird; and the Minister of Public Works and Government Services Canada and Minister responsible for the region of Montreal, the Honourable Michael M Fortier. In addition, they will be joined by members of the business community.
The opening ceremony will feature a countdown leading to the opening of the market, at 9:30 a.m. precisely, and the listing on the market of the first Canadian carbon futures contract.
