Gold Zone Extension Intersected on West Porcupine Property
Toronto, Ontario CANADA, August 29, 2011 /FSC/ - Trillium North Minerals Ltd. (TNM - TSX Venture)("Trillium") announced today the final results from its West Porcupine Gold Property, 40 km. southwest of downtown Timmins, along the Destor Porcupine Fault. A total of five drill holes (1812 metres) were completed to trace the dip and plunge of a gold-bearing zone discovered by Hemlo Gold Mines (see Trillium NR June 13, 2011).
Two holes DF11-01 and 11-02 were drilled in section with previous holes DF 94-18 and 95-23 on line 5500E and two holes, DF11-03 and 11-04 were drilled to the east in a parallel section, with the remaining hole DF 11-05 drilled to the west of section 5500E. Visual observations of the geology and alteration patterns in the core, suggest the original discovery is a combination of silicified porphyry and carbonate-sericite-albitized basalt, containing local silicification (quartz veinlets) and disseminated pyrite. The gold mineralization is directly associated with this style of alteration. In hole DF11-01 a distinct lava flow top appears as one host ("Lava Zone") and a silicified section is the other zone ("Discovery Zone") (see Trillium NR June 23, 2011). The overall setting is similar to several mines in the Porcupine Camp, as well as in the Harker-Holloway and Larder Lake areas.
Assay patterns suggest a shallow west plunge to the mineralization. This also fits with the larger west-facing fold structure on the property, creating a mirror image, geologically, of the Porcupine Gold Camp to the northeast. Assay results for Hole DF11-01 are repeated in the table below.

True Width is estimated to be 66% of the core length.
Hole DF11-02 was deflected eastward and believed to have passed the zone below the plunge line of the mineralization. Hole DF11-03 deflected eastward to 171 degrees and also passed beneath the plunge line. Hole DF11-04 intersected the favourable alteration up plunge from hole 94-18 and 11-01 and contained anomalous gold values. Hole DF11-05 is believed to have hit the west down plunge of the Discovery Zone and returned an assay of 2.54 g Au/tonne over 1m.
Dr. Strashin, President of Trillium, commented, "This drill program has defined the plunge of the mineralization for the first time and showed that gold values do continue to the west along the plunge line. In addition the Discovery Zone has been traced for 110 metres in vertical height. During this exploration program we were also able to locate and secure most of the old core from the Noranda/Hemlo drill programs. We intend to follow up this program by re-examining the old core for any areas that should have been assayed in light of our new information and understanding, particularly the presence of silicified porphyries in association with the gold values. We also intend to complete a modern, detailed IP (Induced Polarization) Survey over the area to help determine the up plunge (near surface mineralization), which is currently hidden by overburden. After a thorough analysis and compilation of all available data, in our next drill program we intend to drill more along the plunge line, as well as the area around Hole DF94-13 (0.6 oz. Au/ton over 6.6 feet) 400 metres to the west of Line 5500 E, which may represent a continuation of the zone or a new lens of mineralization. The management of Trillium is encouraged by the results so far and with a property that is six miles long we have a lot of territory to explore."
Sample preparation was completed at the ALS Chemex facility in Timmins, Ontario and assaying for gold was done using a fire assay extraction on a 30 gram sample with an atomic absorption finish (FA_AA). Trace elements were read using an ICP to detect pathfinder elements such as Mo, As, Sb, Zn and Ca. Analysis was done in North Vancouver at the ALS Chemex Lab.
Supervision of sampling and assay procedure was carried out by R. Middleton P. Eng., who acted as the Qualified Person under the NI 43-101 rules.
