LAVAL, QC, May 31 /CNW Telbec/ - The board of directors of Amex Exploration is very pleased to announce the nomination of Mr. Francis Chartrand, geo, Ph.D. to the position of Vice-President, Exploration, effective June 1st, 2007.
Dr. Chartrand has accumulated almost 30 years experience as a geologist, working in the Province of Quebec and the rest of Canada. Since June of 2006 he has been a self-employed consultant for GEOconsult FMC. From 1997 to 2006, Dr. Chartrand held the position of principal research geologist for SOQUEM Inc. From 1988 to 1997, Dr. Chartrand was employed by the Ministere des Ressources naturelles in Val-d'Or, Quebec, initially as head of the Metallogeny Division and then as head of the Service geologique du Nord-Ouest.
Dr. Chartrand is a former president of the Geological Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and former director of the Mineral Deposits Division of the Geological Association of Canada.
Dr. Chartrand is a geologist and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Concordia University obtained in 1978 and M.Sc.A and Ph.D. degrees from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal awarded in 1982 and 1987 respectively. He also holds the position of Associate Professor with the Universite du Quebec a Chicoutimi.
The Amex Exploration team is very happy with this nomination and is convinced that Dr. Chartrand will prove to be a significant asset to the Company for its properties development considering his experience and his extensive knowledge in geology and metallogeny.
The Company is presently completing its drilling program on Normetal property and the results will be announced in the near future.
