TORONTO, Jan. 16 /CNW/ - Century II Holdings Inc. announced the retirement of the Honourable John C. Wise, P.C., as a Director of the Corporation effective December 31, 2005. Mr. Wise has been a Director of the Corporation since March, 1997. Mr. Wise was a fifth generation dairy farmer and was active in farm organizations and in municipal politics and planning for more than 15 years before his election to Parliament. He served as Councillor, Deputy Reeve and Reeve of Yarmouth Township through the 1960s and became Warden of Elgin County in 1969. Three years later, he was elected MP for Elgin, a seat he held through five consecutive elections until 1988, when he did not run. As well, in 1979 he was appointed Minister of Agriculture. Four years later, he held the same portfolio in Brian Mulroney's majority government. The Corporation wishes to thank Mr. Wise for his many contributions over the years and wish him well during his retirement. The Board will continue with one vacant seat until the Annual General Meeting at which time a replacement will be nominated for Shareholder approval. About Century II Holdings Inc.
