BCL supported a recent visit by landowner representatives from the Panguna mine project area to PNG's renowned Ok Tedi copper mine in Western Province, to provide exposure to and learnings from mining operations and modern tailings management systems that reflect international best practice.
The program included briefings on successful landowner company models, local content and contracting frameworks, and established benefit-sharing arrangements.
The delegation also toured the facilities of Total Waste Management Limited (TWM) at Roku outside Port Moresby to further inform its understanding of complex waste management processes as part of the Panguna Mine Legacy Impact Assessment works.
BCL extends its appreciation to the Ok Tedi and TWM management teams for hosting the Panguna landowner delegation.
