The service is aimed at helping enterprises in general, but particularly small and medium enterprises, to grow their businesses. The service, Mandiri Debit Online, was launched in Jakarta on Wednesday (3 August) by Bank Mandiri Director of Retail Banking, Tardi, Bank Mandiri Director of Technology and Operations, Rico Usthavia Frans, Facebook SMB Lead Indonesia, Waizly Darwin, Facebook Country Director Indonesia, Sri Widowati, and Facebook Managing Director of Emerging Markets Asia Pacific, Will Easton. Tardi said that the Mandiri Debit Online ad payment service was conceived by the Bank to help facilitate small and medium businesses in expanding their customer bases and increase sales. The Mandiri Debit Online service, Tardi continued, will benefit 57.9 million micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia as it will make it easier for them to pay for their advertising on Facebook and Instagram. 'We hope that with the availability of Mandiri Debit Online, the number of new Mandiri debit-card holders will increase. Currently, we have some 13 million debit-card holders who conduct more than 7 million transactions per month, with total transaction value amounting to some Rp 5 trillion per month,' said Tardi. Facebook SMB Lead Indonesia, Waizly Darwin, said that the number of enterprises that used Facebook and Instagram to develop their businesses was continuously increasing. This was because Facebook and Instagram allowed them to reach the right markets, both at home and abroad. 'We want to make it easier for businesses to use mobile advertising solutions. One example of how we are doing this is the development of this non-prepaid automatic payment service using Mandiri debit cards,' said Waizly.
