Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (EGX: ADIB) announced that it has allocated around EGP 1bn ($21.3mn) to upgrade its mobile banking infrastructure and launch a new digital application in Q3 2026, following approval from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), Economy Plus reported on February 9, quoting Mohamed Ali, chief executive and managing director of the bank.
Speaking on the sidelines of a conference reviewing the bank’s 2025 financial results, Ali said the investment aims to enhance the efficiency of digital services, expand the user base, and support the bank’s broader digital transformation strategy, with a focus on improving customer experience.
He noted that ADIB Egypt added around 336,000 new customers during 2025, bringing its total client base to 885,000 by year-end, as demand for Islamic banking products and digital channels grows.
Ali added that the bank is participating with Egypt’s Ministry of Finance in managing and underwriting the local sovereign sukuk programme valued at EGP 200bn, with a tenor of three years starting in November 2025. He added that ADIB Egypt has already completed seven issuances under the programme to date.
Ali expected the bank’s financing-to-deposits ratio to rise to about 65% before the end of H1 2026, up from around 60% at the end of 2025. He said this improvement reflects stronger liquidity deployment and continued growth in financing activity, supported by stable funding and disciplined risk management.
