Danny Keating has almost 30 years of mining and resources experience and was the former CEO of Alufer Mining, Dynamic Mining and ASX listed Lindian Resources. He holds extensive experience in project development and capital markets, as well as cultivating strong relationships with government decision makers, local communities, business leaders and other stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
Speaker 1: Hello everyone and welcome to The 6th Report. I'm joined today with Danny Keaton, CEO of Guiani Metals. And Danny, you are the newly appointed CEO of Giani Meadows. Can you talk about your experience in mining and in Africa, please? Speaker 2: Certainly. Well, good to be with everyone today. Speaker 2: My background, I've worked for most of my adult life Speaker 2: on the African continent, and in a lot of countries Speaker 2: in Africa. Speaker 2: From South Africa where I grew up Speaker 2: and got my mining degree, Speaker 2: as well as in Zambia, spent some time in Namibia, Speaker 2: Guinea, Speaker 2: and other parts of West Africa, Sierra Leone, Speaker 2: Liberia, and also a bit of time Speaker 2: in Mozambique. So I've had a good sort of spread of experiences and also in different ways, sometimes in production, sometimes on project management, sometimes Speaker 2: as CEO, particularly in West Africa, driving businesses forward there. And Speaker 2: I think, you know, when we talk of Africa and all, it's a lot of countries and it's a big place. And I think the important thing that I've kind of learned Speaker 2: from those experiences is around, Speaker 2: ultimately, the respect, having a respect of that you're in someone else's country, Speaker 2: respecting their culture, but also respecting that the way they might want to see projects or activities in their own country might be different. And there are different objectives to what they wanted to see, how they want to see Speaker 2: economic activity for their own people and the development within their own cities and towns and in the countryside. So Speaker 2: I think that's part of what I'm looking forward to working on with Gianni and we'll come to maybe some more Speaker 2: aspects of that. ...
