WEG S.A. (B3: WEGE3 / OTC: WEGZY) announces to its shareholders and the general market an investment plan of US$ 165 million, approximately R$ 840 million, to expand its generator production capacity in North America. The project will be carried out in two phases and aims to meet the growing demand for power generation solutions for critical applications in the United States, particularly driven by the expansion of data centers. This initiative represents another step in the growth strategy for the businesses incorporated into the Company through the acquisition of Marathon.
The first phase of the project includes investments of US$ 24 million for the acquisition and refurbishment of an industrial building located next to the current Quma I Industrial Site, in Atotonilco de Tula, Mexico. The facility will be dedicated to generator assembly and will contribute to expanding the Company's production capacity, with operations expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
In the second phase, at a location in North America yet to be determined, WEG will invest US$ 141 million in the construction of two new industrial facilities. The project includes the implementation of a vertically integrated production structure covering strategic processes such as the manufacture of laminations, low- and medium-voltage windings, shafts and frames, increasing operational efficiency and the competitiveness of the operation. Upon completion of the second phase, expected in 2030, the Company will have the global capacity to manufacture approximately 50 generators per day at its factories in Mexico, the United States, Brazil and China, compared with its current capacity of 10 generators per day.
