Update on GKN Aerospace’s Garden Grove facility in California
Further to the announcement on 25 August 2026, we are providing an update on developments relating to GKN Aerospace (‘GKN’) Garden Grove facility.
Civil investigation
In recent weeks, GKN has continued to work closely with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDAO) to resolve their civil investigation. On 12 October the OCDAO filed in court the necessary documentation to initiate the process of resolving the civil investigation which included:
- an agreed upon final judgment resolving the OCDAO’s investigation;
- the operational safety plan;
- details of the previously announced up to $100 million claims programme for eligible residents and businesses; and
- confirmation of civil enforcement penalties amounting to $15 million and claims received to date by emergency services and relevant authorities of $10 million
The settlement is contingent upon court approval. The claims programme is expected to open within days of court approval.
Separately, we are engaged in ongoing mediation discussions regarding the various pending civil class action lawsuits.
Resumption of full operations at the facility
Working alongside regulators, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders, GKN has made significant progress preparing the facility to resume full operations. Subject to obtaining approval from the relevant authorities, GKN continues to expect a phased return to full capacity during the fourth quarter.
As previously announced, our associated insurance position remains under review.
Our trading update for the four-month period from 1 July to 31 October will be released on Wednesday 18 November 2026.
