Tesco has once again pledged its commitment to supporting serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families by re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant at RAF High Wycombe.

This important pledge was witnessed by representatives from the Tesco Armed Forces Network, the Armed Forces and Help for Heroes at an event to celebrate Tesco's continued support.

The signing comes as the Tesco Armed Forces Network announces its new three-year partnership with military charity Help For Heroes. This important step recognises Tesco's long-standing dedication to veterans, reservists and their families.

As the leading private sector employer of veterans, Tesco was proud to be the first retailer to sign the Covenant in 2014, publicly committing to supporting serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families.

The re-signing of the Covenant, at such a poignant location, further demonstrates our commitment to the Armed Forces community. Military personnel bring a wealth of transferable skills and knowledge that are an asset to any business, and we are honoured to have thousands of veterans, reservists and members of the wider Armed Forces family working across our stores, centres and offices.

'Tesco has a long association with the Armed Forces dating back to our founder Jack Cohen, and we are very proud to be the leading private sector employer of veterans in the UK which we support through our thriving Armed Forces network.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO

The Armed Forces Covenant is crucial to ensuring that our military personnel and their families receive the support they need. It is a privilege to witness Tesco reconfirming their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, and increasing their support even further.

Air Marshal Paul Lloyd, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff

We're proud to begin this three-year partnership with Tesco and to support the continued work with their Armed Forces Network. Tesco's commitment to veterans, reservists, and their families is clear, and the renewal of their Armed Forces Covenant reinforces that.

'Through this partnership, we'll deliver initiatives that bring Armed Forces communities together and encourage wider public involvement, like showing support for key fundraising events such as the Big Battlefield Bike Ride and Heroes Hikes. We look forward to working alongside Tesco to help ensure those who've served remain connected, supported and recognised across the UK.

James Needham, CEO of Help for Heroes

Through the partnership the Tesco Armed Forces Network will proudly sponsor Help for Heroes' flagship fundraising event the Big Battlefield Bike Ride as well as the Heroes Hike and other customer engagements later in the year.

The re-signing of the Covenant commits Tesco to uphold its key principles, including:

Supporting veterans with employment opportunities at Tesco

Helping spouses and partners of serving personnel find roles across our business.

Promoting the Reserve Forces to colleagues across the business

Ensuring flexibility for colleagues impacted by partners' military service, so no one is disadvantaged
