VANCOUVER, May 18 /CNW/ - Sun Gro Horticulture Income Fund (the "Fund") (TSX: GRO.UN) announced today that T. Richard Turner has been appointed Chair of the Board of Sun Gro Horticulture Canada Ltd., the operating wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fund. Mr. Turner was previously appointed as interim Chair of the Board on February 3, 2006 and has been a Trustee of the Fund since 2002. The Fund also announced today the appointment, effective May 16, 2006, of Jack Edwards as a director of Sun Gro Horticulture Canada Ltd. "We welcome the appointment of Mr. Edwards, who brings significant experience in logistics and distribution to the Sun Gro team," said Richard Turner. Mr. Edwards was formerly a director of Laidlaw Inc., a provider of contract bus services, inter-city and tourist bus services and healthcare transportation; the President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldpoint Logistics Inc., a transportation logistics company; and the President and Chief Executive Officer of Danzas Corporation (North America), a worldwide transportation company. While Mr. Edwards was a director of Laidlaw, that company was subject to reorganization proceedings under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (Canada) and similar proceedings under Chapter 11 in the United States. Laidlaw and its directors and officer were also named as defendants in certain class action lawsuits which were subsequently settled without any finding of wrongdoing. Sun Gro Horticulture Income Fund is a limited purpose trust established on February 12, 2002 to hold the securities of Sun Gro Horticulture Canada Ltd.
