Trading Symbol: SFR: TSX-Venture VANCOUVER, July 20 /CNW/ - Starfire Minerals Inc. announces that drilling is scheduled to restart immediately on the Langmuir Southeast target area on its Langmuir Township property holdings, located 25 km. southeast of Timmins, Ontario, Canada. The area lies on the southeast flank of the Shaw Dome portion of the productive Abitibi (Ultramafic) nickel belt. This drilling is encouraged by record all-time high prices for nickel, combined with renewed production from nearby mines and accelerated exploration on nearby properties that were former nickel producers. Both high grade and lower grade bulk tonnage targets are being pursued. The current program will investigate sulphide zones located in two previous holes within an essentially untested ultramafic belt designated the Langmuir south area. Disseminated and concentrated pyrrhotitic sulphide zones within the basal portions of a series of komatiitic flows returned encouraging sulphide nickel values. Shallow diamond drill holes will be situated to test the updip, shallow portions of this target horizon. A detailed magnetic gradient survey will be conducted in the vicinity of the projected subcrop of the favourable unltramafic horizons to assist in locating any sulphidic zones. These zones, which are weakly magnetic may be separated by their magnetic response from the masking effect of magnetic iron formations which are intermingled within the stratigraphic column in this area. The qualified person for the current program is John Boissoneault, P.Eng., of Timmins, Ontario. Starfire Minerals Inc. includes uranium, nickel and precious & base metal divisions with properties in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia.
