Signing of revised German Rail contracts
Mobico Group PLC has signed revised German rail contracts with five public transport authorities, implementing structural changes to the RME and RRX contracts. The Rhein-Münsterland Express contract, covering lines RE 7 and RB 48, has converted to a gross contract structure from January 1, 2026, removing revenue risk and extending the term to 2032. The currently loss-making Rhein-Ruhr-Express contracts, covering lines RE 1, RE 5, RE 6, RE 11, and RE 4, will be shortened by three years, ending in 2030, to align with regional transport plans. 19 June 2026 Mobico Group PLC ( Mobico or the Group ) Signing of revised German Rail contracts Mobico is pleased to announce that formal contracts have been signed with the five German Public Transport Authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia and adjacent regions. These contracts implement the structural changes to the RME and RRX contracts, as envisaged and set out in the announcement dated 29 January 2026. Key changes include: · Rhein-Münsterland Express (RME) The contract, covering lines RE 7 and RB 48, has converted to a gross contract structure from 1 January 2026, removing revenue risk from National Express. Additionally, the revised gross contract terms will meet current industry norms. The contract term will be extended by two years to 2032. · Rhein-Ruhr-Express (RRX) The current loss making RRX contracts, covering lines RE 1, RE 5, RE 6, RE 11 and RE 4, will be shortened by 3 years and will end in 2030. This will facilitate a coordinated retendering aligned with North Rhine-Westphalia's regional transport plan.
