Shree Cement commissions new solar facility in India

· Issued by Shree Cement Limited

Shree Cement Limited has commissioned a 20MW solar power facility in the Chitrakoot district of Uttar Pradesh, marking another step in the company’s expansion of renewable energy assets across India.

With the latest addition, POWERLINE reports that Shree Cement’s total installed solar capacity now stands at 313.5MW nationwide. The newly operational plant’s first phase has begun commercial generation, while the second phase is expected to be completed and commissioned by the end of the fourth quarter of FY2026.

Electricity generated from the project will be transmitted to the company’s Etah grinding unit via the wheeling and banking mechanism, helping to offset grid consumption and reduce carbon emissions. The move underscores Shree Cement’s commitment to sustainable operations and its broader strategy to integrate renewable energy into its manufacturing network as India’s industrial sector faces growing pressure to decarbonise and enhance energy efficiency.
