[Photo/WeChat account of AVINEX] The energy center of the municipal supporting facilities project for Pudong Airport's Phase IV expansion recently reached a major milestone, with the concrete structures of all individual buildings completed. The project will now enter the decoration and equipment installation stage and is scheduled to be ready for equipment commissioning by May of next year. After completion, the facility will provide heating and cooling for the future Terminal 3. Covering a total floor area of 22,000 square meters, the center includes a high-voltage diesel generator room and a 35-kilovolt substation, an energy center complex and three energy storage tanks, each with a capacity of 24,000 cubic meters. The generator room, substation and complex building were recently topped out. Once operational, the center will use off-peak nighttime electricity to store cooling and heating energy and release it during peak daytime hours. This will help balance the local power grid, enhance the airport's peak-shaving capacity, and contribute to lower carbon emissions.
