About this update from Safran Sa

Berlin, Germany, June 9, 2026 Safran Electronics & Defense today announces an investment of nearly 50 million euros in Germany, aimed at strengthening its industrial and technological presence in the field of defense equipment, thereby reinforcing its historic footprint of over 40 years in the country. This investment will involve moving operations from the current site in Murr to a new center of excellence in Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg. Larger and equipped with enhanced industrial capabilities, the new site, which will be operational in early 2028, will support the growth of Safran Electronics & Defense's activities in Germany. This new facility will strengthen the production and maintenance capacities of the Murr facility, which is primarily dedicated to fiber optic gyroscopes (FOG) and PNT (Position, Navigation, Timing) equipment used on both civil and military platforms. It will also incorporate new capabilities for the production and maintenance of portable optronic equipment for soldiers. This investment will result in the creation of 200 jobs, notably for engineers, production technicians, quality managers, as well as business development and sales professionals. It further reinforces Safran Electronics & Defense's position as a trusted industrial partner to the Bundeswehr, the German government, and the country's leading defense industry players. "For over 40 years, Safran Electronics & Defense Germany has been equipping the German armed forces and defense industry with cutting-edge solutions, ranging from PNT to optronics and guidance," says Marzell Schiller, Director of Safran Electronics & Defense Germany. "This major investment in Ludwigsburg will create value and jobs to serve Germany's technological sovereignty. It expands our 'Made in Germany' offering and strengthens our commitment to deliver to our customers on time, every time."
