Route1's Ultra-Portable Computing Device Added to Pre-qualified Product
List for All Levels of Canadian Government

TORONTO, Sept. 18 /CNW/ - Route1, Inc.(TM) (TSX-V:ROI) a market leader in
providing secure, identity-managed remote computing solutions, today announced
that the Route1 MobiKEY(TM) has met the security standards established by the
Communications Security Establishment (CSE), Canada's national cryptologic
authority. MobiKEY has been placed on the Information Technology Security
(ITS) Standards and Initiatives' Pre-qualified Product List (IPPL). The
program is an initiative jointly led by the CSE and Public Works and
Government Services Canada (PWGSC) to facilitate the procurement of ITS
products that meet CSE's pre-qualification criteria, by Government of Canada
departments.

MobiKEY is an ultra-portable computing solution embedded on a
cryptographically-enabled USB token device that stores a user's identity to
ensure secure access to desktop and network resources from any
Internet-enabled, Windows-based PC. MobiKEY eliminates vulnerabilities exposed
to networks through access beyond the boundaries of the workplace. Since
access is initiated from inside the firewall, MobiKEY completely removes the
threat of unauthorized access.
All information technology security products considered by CSE for
placement on the ITS IPPL must meet one or more of the following requirements:

<<
- Validation to FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2, or integration of a
    cryptographic module validated to FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2 under the
    Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP);
- Endorsement under CSE's Cryptographic Endorsement Program (CEP); or
- Certification or recognition under the Canadian Common Criteria
    Scheme (CCS).
>>

Although an ITS product may meet one or more of the above requirements,
successful pre-qualification also requires that it undergo an examination
process performed by CSE to verify that:

<<
1. The product uses, if applicable, CSE-approved cryptographic
    algorithms and a FIPS 140-1 or FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic
    module;
2. Significant ITS features provided by the product have been verified
    under the CMVP, CEP or CCS;
3. The product does not contain known vulnerabilities which pose
    unacceptable risks; and
4. The product has potential application within the Government of
    Canada.
>>

"The addition of MobiKEY to the Government's Pre-Qualified Products List
simplifies the procurement process for all government agencies," said Andrew
White, CEO of Route1. "This milestone not only signals to Federal departments
that our technology meets stringent criteria, but also demonstrates to other
governments and multi-national companies that MobiKEY meets the highest
cryptographic standards."
