Rogaland Sparebank 150 Years!

Sandnes Sparebank was established in 1875, and had its first business day on February 21, 1876, at the initiative of merchant and shipowner Gabriel Sandved, ship owner Martin Nygaard and school principal K. M. Sørensen.

Sandved, Nygaard and Sørensen formed a preparatory committee that asked the people of Sandnes to subscribe for shares in a new bank. There was already a bank in the district, Høyland Sparebank, which had been established in 1858, but several in Sandnes did not think that this bank was taking good care of the business community in the town.

Langgata 70a, Sandnes

A total of 64 good Sandnes citizens were interested in the idea, and funds were paid into a basic fund of a total of 8,380 kroner.
